We did our first run for EPA who was introducing electronic recycling a few years ago. Through our co ventures we were able to create a good line of products including, mugs,rulers,message clips,piggy banks,picture frames,note pad holder and license plate holders. Other products available on special run.

Recycled Dog

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 191px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_oyKE4UAsho4/SlUm3_u94OI/AAAAAAAAAHM/8x0AbANWcHk/s320/recycled+dog.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5356230075270160610" />

The Recycled Plastic Playhouse

Working on the artist playhouse made from our Aztec Plastic Lumber.
Target currently operates more than 200 retail stores and seven distribution centers in California. The retailer carries and handles hundreds of items with hazardous properties, including: bleach, paints, pesticides, aerosol products, oven cleaners and automotive products.

Under California law, Target is responsible for properly handling and disposing of products that are damaged during shipping or stocking, returned to the store by customers or removed because they are past their expiration date.

Target is also required under law to employ a licensed hazardous waste hauler to pick up the waste and transport it to a hazardous waste disposal facility. This ensures that hazardous waste will not end up at local landfills where toxic chemicals can seep into California's water supplies or emit dangerous gases.

Since 2001, however, local environmental health inspectors have served Target with more than 300 Notices of Violation (NOVs) for breaking California's hazardous waste control laws.

Is this end of CIWMB?

California "Governator" Takes Aim at Waste Board

Date: June 15, 2009

Source: News Room

California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger again wants to eliminate the state's Integrated Waste management Board (CIWMB) as part of his campaign to address the state's $24.3 billion deficit. Proponents of the agency say that it has helped California cut its waste by 50 percent between 1989, when the agency was created, and 2005 and that much of its $235 million budget is funded by landfill taxes and fees on the sale of tires, televisions and other goods. Critics of CIWMB, which has six board members and a staff of about 450 employees, charge that the board positions are essentially parking spots for political cronies. The Governor argues that the money it receives and which is guided by state law to be allocated to waste and recycling related programs would be better spent elsewhere. He would like to eliminate the board and split its responsibilities between the Department of Conservation and Department of Toxic Substances Control.

According to the Governor, "It is absurd for us to continue on as business as usual with those things when we have such limited amount of money," he said. "It's ludicrous to even debate this issue" (Matthew Yi, San Francisco Chronicle, June 14).

NRC Takeover Stirs Unrest

1 | NRC takeover stirs unrest

A proposed plan by Keep America Beautiful to take over the financially strapped National Recycling Coalition has resulted in a flurry of activity.

The leaders of an alliance of state recycling organizations (SROs) has issued a survey to SRO executives and leaders, seeking the views of each organization regarding the plan to make NRC a unit of KAB. Previous discussions among state association leaders indicate there is little uniformity in the views over the plan, with some groups hating it, some supporting it and some being unsure. The SRO alliance has also launched an internal listserv to generate information and analysis.

A powerful environmental group in California has announced it is starting a new national organization — the Campaign for Recycling. The new organization is being spearheaded by Californians Against Waste, and reportedly has the support of a beverage company, a waste hauling firm and a number of environmental groups. A joint announcement is expected soon.

At the same time, a new group — Save NRC Committee — has been launched by a growing list of former NRC board members, officers and sponsors. The committee plans to inform current NRC members why they should vote down KAB's takeover of NRC.

According to a highly-placed source, the membership vote will take place mid-to-late August. A two-thirds vote is needed to approve the plan.

RESOURCE RECYCLING ELECTRONIC NEWSLETTER JUNE 16,2009

Degradable Additives Good or Bad?

SONOMA, CALIF. (May 28, 12 p.m. ET) -- The National Association for PET Container Resources today called on brand owners and bottle makers to refrain from using PET containers with degradable additives.
“We want the people making claims about bottles with degradable additives to first substantiate and document their claims” that there will be no adverse effect on the recycling stream or the next life product", said Dennis Sabourin,

Steve Alexander, director of the Association of Postconsumer Plastic Recyclers, said APR was investigating the possibility of filing a complaint with the national advertising division of the Better Business Bureau over the claims being made by additive makers and bottle manufacturers.

Because recycled PET is often used to make durable goods such as carpeting and strapping, reclaimers are concerned about how degradable additives will affect the longevity of those products.

No bottles with degradable additives are currently on the market. But Planet Green Water Bottle Corp. of Vancouver, British Columbia, has introduced a prototype bottle, and Phoenix-based Enso Bottles LLC expects Aquamantra Enso water bottles to hit store shelves next month.

Today, there are what some call renewable and sustainable plastics such as PLA, PHA, PHB, etc. Because these use food based starches to create the polymer they use more fossil fuels than traditional plastics. Farming corn for the creation of plastics or biofuels is probably the worst thing we could do environmentally. Not only does it use up resources that could be used for food in the world, but it requires a HUGH amount of chemicals to create soil where the genetically modified food crop can grow, these chemicals are ALL fossil fuel based.

A great chair with vibrant color

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px;
